Are all single-vision lenses the same quality?
Lenses, Single Vision
No, not all single vision lenses are the same quality. At Lensology, we supply both basic generic lenses, which are affordable and reliable with any required coatings, and premium single vision lenses, which come with some of the best coatings and materials available.
Premium lenses are often made from thinner, lightweight, and more durable materials. For example, our ULTIMA range comes with a 12-month guarantee against scratching and damage. These high-quality lenses, which used to be costly and out of reach for many, are now much more affordable thanks to our competitive pricing.
Are AR/XR Lenses Shipped Securely?
Yes! All our lens inserts are shipped with insurance and tracking through reliable couriers, including for international orders, ensuring safe and fast delivery.
Are Prescription Lenses Available for AR Glasses?
Yes! Lensology offers custom prescription lens inserts for AR glasses. While some manufacturers design their glasses to accommodate mild myopia, our inserts cater to both higher myopia and hyperopia prescriptions, ensuring you get the most immersive AR experience.
Are the lenses easy to fit into my Oakley Meta glasses?

Can I add Blue Light protection to any lens?

Yes, we offer express global shipping for Meta lenses. All import taxes and customs fees are included in the shipping cost, so you won’t incur any additional charges.

Can you provide all types of progressives?
Lenses, Progressive
Yes, we work with all the main progressive manufacturers, so we can provide the same lenses available from other providers. However, we are especially proud of our own in-house range. Our top-tier progressive, the Omni-Vision HD, is comparable to the quality of any high-end lens on the market.
Our in-house range offers three main options:
Digital Freeform (Good)
Pro Series (Better)
Omni-Vision HD (Best)
We can also supply lenses from major brands such as Essilor and Zeiss . Prices for these branded lenses are not listed on our website, but you can request a quote by contacting us.
Can you tell if lenses have an anti-reflective coating?
Lens Coatings
Yes, lenses with Anti-Glare (Anti-Reflective) coatings usually look clearer and less reflective compared to uncoated lenses. In bright light, you might see a subtle green or blue reflection, which is a sign of the coating. They also improve how your lenses look in photos and under indoor lighting.
Do coatings come with a warranty?
Lens Coatings
Yes, our premium ULTIMA coating includes a 12-month warranty covering the lens surface. Other coatings are manufactured to high standards, but only ULTIMA includes extended cover as standard.
Do I need progressives?
Progressive
Our eyes naturally age as we get older, with many of us requiring prescriptions to support our close-up and distance viewing. If you work in an office, you may also require computer glasses. Rather than purchasing a pair of glasses for every need, progressives cover all your optical requirements in one lens, aiding your lifestyle and saving your bank balance from purchasing several pairs of glasses.
Do I need to send in my Meta frames?
No – with our exclusive Click & Fit service, you don’t need to send in your Meta frames. We manufacture lenses to your frame’s exact specifications and ship them directly to you, ready to click into place.

Do Oakley Meta lenses come with coatings and UV protection?
Oakley Meta Lenses
Absolutely — all lenses include an Anti-Glare coating and 100% UV protection as standard. You can also upgrade to Enhanced Anti-Glare or our premium ULTIMA coating for added clarity, smudge resistance, and faster production.
Do Ray-Ban Meta lenses include coatings and UV protection?

Do you supply lenses that protect my eyes when using devices with a screen, like laptops, PC’s, tablets and phones?
Lenses
Yes, we do, and this option is becoming increasingly popular. We offer an upgrade coating for Blue-Light Protection, which can be applied to most of our lens options.
Blue light is produced naturally by the sun but is also emitted by digital devices such as computer monitors, smartphones, and tablets. While blue light has some beneficial effects, overexposure—especially at night—can cause eye strain, vision issues, and even disrupt sleep patterns.
Our Blue-Light Protect lenses have a multi-layer coating that reduces glare and reflects blue light away from the lens, helping to alleviate long-term eye strain caused by excessive screen use. This additional protection can be added to most Anti-Glare lenses for just an extra $20.00.
Do you supply non-prescription lenses?
Lenses, Non-Prescription
Yes, we offer a wide range of non-prescription lenses. Our non-prescription sunglasses can be customised with solid, graduated, or polarised tint options, and you can even add a mirror finish for extra style.
We also provide clear, non-prescription lenses for customers who wear glasses as a fashion accessory. In addition, non-prescription Blue-Light Protect lenses have become increasingly popular for reducing fatigue and eye strain from prolonged screen use. Many of our team members here at Lensology use them daily and can personally recommend them for anyone spending long hours in front of digital screens.
Do you supply sunglass lenses?
Lenses
Yes, we supply a wide variety of sunglass lenses, including solid tints, graduated tints, polarized lenses, as well as an option to have a mirror finish too. These can be customized for both non-prescription and prescription lenses (single vision, bifocals, and progressives).
Here are the types of lenses we offer:
SOLID TINTED:
These lenses have a single color throughout. Our standard colours are grey, green/grey, and brown. We can also tint lenses in a wide range of other colours, including pink, blue, yellow, and more.
GRADUATED TINTED:
These lenses are darker at the top and gradually fade to a lighter tint or clear at the bottom. Like solid tints, graduated tints are custom-made and available in the same range of colors.
POLARIZED:
Polarized lenses block glare from reflective surfaces like water or snow, making them ideal for sports, driving, or anyone sensitive to outdoor glare. We offer polarized lenses in grey, brown, and green.
MIRROR FINISH:
For an additional $46, you can add a mirror finish to any tinted lens. Mirror colours include green, blue, silver, red, rose, purple and gold.
As an alternative option to sunglasses we are also able to provide Transitions® lenses too! Including Transitions® GEN S™, XTRActive And XTRActive Polarized. To find out more information on these lenses please click here to go through to our dedicated page.
How are Digital & Lifestyle lenses different from Progressives?
Digital & Lifestyle, Lenses, Progressive
Progressives provide three vision zones (near, intermediate, and distance) with a smooth transition between them. However, the intermediate zone can be narrow, making prolonged computer or desk work challenging.
Digital & Lifestyle lenses , on the other hand, prioritise close and intermediate vision, offering a wider field of view in these zones but do not cater to long-distance vision. These lenses are ideal for desk work, computer use, and hobbies that require frequent focus shifts within arm’s length.

How long does it take if my glasses are bifocals, progressives, or custom made?
For non-stock lenses, such as progressives, bifocals, or custom-made lenses, production typically takes up to 10 working days. Some highly specialist lenses – like mirror tints or bespoke finishes – can take up to 3 weeks due to the complex manufacturing involved.
If you choose our premium Omni-Vision HD progressives, your order will be fast-tracked free of charge, with typical dispatch in around 5 working days.
To get your new lenses as quickly as possible, choose our ULTIMA coating or add Fast Track at checkout to receive priority production in our lab.
How long does it take if my glasses are single vision lenses like everyday lenses or readers?
Most single-vision lenses are completed within 5-7 working days from when we receive and verify your order. We keep many of these lenses in stock and we pride ourselves on being faster than many of our competitors.
If you need your lenses sooner, choose our ULTIMA coating or add Fast Track at checkout to receive priority production in our lab. For stock lenses, this means your glasses can be completed within 1-2 working days.
The ULTIMA range includes top-quality lenses such as clear lenses, sunglasses lenses, and Transitions® lenses. In addition to the speed and quality, the ULTIMA lenses come with a 12-month warranty, which means if you scratch or damage your lenses, we’ll replace them free of charge.
How Long Does It Take to Get Prescription AR Lenses?
Our prescription AR lens inserts are typically produced in working 1-4 days. More complex prescriptions or international shipping may extend the timeline slightly.
How long does it take to get used to progressives?
Progressive
First-time wearers of progressives can take a few days to get used to them. With regular use, it should take no more than a week. Progressives with smaller fields of vision may take a little longer as there is more distortion, whereas high-end progressives are easier to get used to.
How long does it take to get used to Transitions®?
Transitions
First-time wearers of Transitions® may notice the change with the first few wears. But the smooth transition from clear lens to tinted and back again quickly becomes unnoticeable. Creating an undisturbed view in every setting. You’ll be wondering why you’ve gone so long without them!
How long will it take to receive my Meta lenses?
Oakley Meta Lenses, Ray-Ban Meta Lenses
Our stock lenses are typically completed within 5-7 working days once we’ve verified your order.
For a faster service, select our ULTIMA coating or Fast Track at checkout to receive priority production. Stock lenses with ULTIMA or Fast Track are usually completed within 1-2 working days.
Non-stock or custom lenses, such as varifocal/progressive lenses and specialist tints, take longer due to the additional manufacturing involved. These typically take 5-10 working days, with some specialist lenses (like mirror or bespoke tints) taking up to 3-4 weeks.
How much better are high-end progressives compared to low-end ‘free’ ones?
Lenses, Progressive
Progressive lenses are more complex than single-vision lenses, as they need to provide three levels of eye correction — distance, intermediate, and near — all blended into a single lens. This complexity makes it difficult to avoid some level of distortion.
Low-end progressives tend to have significant peripheral distortion, leaving only a small portion of the lens working effectively for clear vision.
The good news is that even our entry-level Digital Freeform Varifocal (DFF) lenses compare favourably with high street mid-range designs. Our Omni-Vision HD lenses are comparable to the best progressives produced by leading manufacturers such as Essilor, Nikon, and Hoya, offering minimal distortion and a smoother visual experience.
We always recommend spending at the top end of your budget for progressive lenses, as you’ll notice a real difference in performance between lower-end options and premium lenses. If you wear progressives most of the time, it’s worth investing in the best possible lenses within your budget for maximum comfort and vision clarity.
I am concerned about trying progressives for the first time. What if I cannot adapt to wearing them?
Lenses, Progressive
It’s completely normal to experience an adjustment period when trying progressives for the first time. This period can range from as little as five minutes to, in some cases, up to two weeks. If you’re finding it difficult to adjust, one of our friendly experts will gladly guide you through the process and offer tips to help you adapt to wearing this type of lens.
I can’t find what I’m looking for on your price guide. Does that mean you don’t offer this?
General, Lenses
If a lens exists, then we can supply it! We work with the same lens suppliers as the high street stores. If you’re looking for something specific that isn’t listed, just contact us, and we’ll be happy to help source it for you.
I think I am more confused now than I was before…
General
We’re sorry to hear that! It’s not our intention to confuse anyone. There are a lot of options available, but that’s because we want to cater to every individual’s specific needs and requirements.
Feel free to email us at usa@lensology.com or give us a call on +441923 940 408 and chat with one of our friendly and knowledgeable optical experts. We’re here to guide you through the entire process if needed. We’ll provide advice and answer any questions you have, always in plain English — we promise!
I wanted Transitions®️️️ or sun reactive lenses, but I’ve been told they aren’t effective when driving?
Lenses
For driving, we recommend Transitions®️️️ XTRActive®️️️ lenses, which are designed to darken behind a car windscreen, unlike Transitions®️️️ GEN S™️️️ lenses. These lenses work well for driving and go slightly darker in bright sunlight than a GEN S lens.
This option is available for an additional $27.00 and comes in three colours: grey, brown, and green. You can also choose from six mirror options to enhance style. These Xtractive mirror options are a $86.00 add-on to GEN S™️️️ price lenses and include:
Silver Mirror
Blue Mirror
Green Mirror
Gold Mirror
Pink Mirror
Red Mirror
For enhanced glare reduction, you can choose Transitions®️️️ XTRActive®️️️ Polarized™️️️ lenses. These lenses combine light-responsive technology with polarization, providing maximum glare reduction on reflective surfaces. They are available for an additional $105.00
Please note that the polarization feature activates only in direct sunlight and does not work behind a car windscreen.
Is there an advantage to buying higher quality lenses? Aren’t they all the same?
Lenses
Yes, there is a huge advantage to buying higher quality lenses.
For single-vision lenses, you’ll benefit from improved clarity of vision and a slimmer, lighter lens compared to standard options. Higher quality lenses also come with superior coatings that reduce reflections, are easier to keep clean, and offer better scratch resistance.
At Lensology, we’re proud to offer high-quality lenses at affordable prices, and we believe that investing in quality lenses pays off in the long run.
For progressives, the benefits are even more significant. Higher quality progressives, like our Omni-Vision HD, provide:
Half the price of the high-street equivalent for this level of design.
Cutting-edge freeform design.
Much less “swim and sway” compared to lower-end progressives.
Reduced distortion, especially in the peripheral areas of the lens.
Easier side-to-side head movement.
Larger distance and reading zones, with a much wider intermediate zone.
Natural blending across all focal points for greater comfort.
Fast adaptation, even for previous single vision or bifocal wearers.
A 100% no-quibble satisfaction guarantee — if you’re not happy, we will either swap the lenses or refund you.
There are questions I have that are not answered in your FAQs.
General
If you have any more questions that you don’t think are answered here, please get in touch as we will happily answer any queries you have. You can email us at usa@lensology.com or give us a call on +441923 940 408, we are always happy to help.
What are bifocals, and can you supply any type?
Bifocal, Lenses
Bifocals are lenses with two distinct areas of vision correction in one lens. The majority of the lens is for distance vision, while the lower portion has a visible segment for reading. The most popular bifocal style is the D28, named for its D-shaped reading segment, which is 28mm wide which is what we supply as our standard bifocal
If you didn’t want this style of lined bifocal, we do recommend instead opting for progressive lenses which are a seamless lens.
What are Digital & Lifestyle (Occupational) lenses?
Digital & Lifestyle, Lenses
Digital & Lifestyle lenses, also known as occupational or office lenses, are designed for people who need clear vision at both close and intermediate distances. They are ideal for office workers, hobbyists, and professionals who frequently switch between reading and mid-range tasks.
Unlike standard single-vision lenses, which are optimised for only one distance, occupational lenses provide enhanced visual comfort by reducing eye strain and offering a wider field of vision for work and daily activities.
What are high-index lenses? Do I need them?
Lenses
The stronger your prescription, the thicker and heavier your lenses will naturally be. You can offset this by opting for high-index lenses, which are thinner and lighter, providing a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing look. The thickness of your lenses will also depend on the dimensions of the frame.
High-index lenses are not only slimmer, but they are also more durable and lighter in weight, making them an excellent option for those with higher prescriptions.
Here’s a quick guide to lens index options:
Standard 1.5 index: Basic lens thickness.
Thin 1.60 High-Index Lenses: About 20% slimmer and lighter than standard lenses.
Thinner 1.67 High-Index Lenses: About 33% slimmer and lighter than standard lenses.
Thinnest 1.74 High-Index Lenses: About 45% slimmer and lighter than standard lenses.
With our ULTIMA Upgrade Offer, if you choose lenses from the ULTIMA Anti-Glare range, we’ll automatically upgrade your lenses to the next best high-index option. ULTIMA lenses come with a 12-month no-quibble warranty against damage, and are made, glazed, and dispatched within just 24 – 48 hours (stock range lenses only).
If you’re not concerned about the weight or thickness of your lenses, we are happy to supply the basic lenses to suit your budget, though we’ll still advise you on the best options to ensure you make an informed choice. Once we have received your order, if you have selected an option we feel is unsuitable, we will get in touch to let you know if we feel an upgrade is needed.

What does single vision and progressive mean? What’s the difference?
Lenses, Progressive, Single Vision
Single-vision lenses provide just one type of focus, which can be for distance, reading, or specific intermediate use, such as computer work. These lenses correct vision for a single distance.
Progressive lenses offer multiple types of focus within the same lens. For example:
Bifocal lenses provide two focus areas — one for distance and one for reading.
Progressive lenses provide three focus areas, seamlessly covering distance, intermediate, and reading zones, making them ideal for people who need clear vision across all ranges.
What fitting measurements do you require?
Orders
For single-vision lenses (everyday distance, intermediate, or reading) we require your pupil distance. We will send you an email after you have placed the order that will allow you to upload this information.
To ensure we have the accurate measurements, these are the options you can provide:
You can upload a picture wearing your glasses (please remove the original lenses before taking the photo if the existing lenses are tinted).
Enter your own pupil distance measurement if you know this.
For progressive or bifocal lenses, we require both your pupil distance and the unique fitting heights. We will send you an email after you have placed the order that will allow you to upload this information.
To ensure we have the accurate measurements, these are the options you can provide:
You can upload a picture wearing your glasses and we can obtain the pupil distance and fitting heights from this.
What if I am unhappy with my order?
Orders
Your satisfaction is our priority! If you’re experiencing any issues, whether it’s visual discomfort or something else, our team of experienced professionals is here to help. We can assess any concerns, identify the cause, and recommend the best solution. Before considering a return, get in touch with us, and we’ll do everything we can to make things right for you.
What is the best way to supply you with a photograph so you can obtain my pupil measurement?
Orders
We’ve been using a reliable method for years to ensure highly accurate pupil distance measurements. Here’s how it works:
After you have placed your order:
Take a clear photo of yourself wearing the glasses you want us to glaze.
Make sure your eyes are open, and you’re looking straight at the camera—no looking up, down, or to the sides.
The photo should show your face in a natural position, so don’t get too close to the camera (around arms length).
Upload the picture via the form we have sent you.
When a photograph isn’t needed:
If your lenses are Single Vision and you already know your accurate Pupil Distance, you don’t need to send a photo.
For Progressive or bifocal lenses, even if you know your pupil distance, we’ll still need a photo to measure the height of your pupil relative to the frame.
If you’re unsure, what to do, or if you have any questions at all, feel free to call us on +4419230940408 or email us at usa@lensology.com and we’ll guide you through the process.
What is the difference between Anti-Glare and Enhanced Anti-Glare?
Lens Coatings
Both coatings reduce reflections and improve visual clarity, but Enhanced Anti-Glare includes an additional Easy-Clean layer that repels smudges, dust and water, helping your lenses stay cleaner for longer. It’s ideal for daily wearers who want clearer, lower-maintenance lenses.
What is the difference between distance, intermediate, and near lenses?
Lenses, Single Vision
Distance lenses (also called ‘everyday lenses’) are designed to help people who have difficulty focusing on faraway objects. If you wear glasses for driving or watching TV, then you are likely using distance-correcting lenses.
Intermediate lenses are ideal for activities that require focus at arm’s length, such as working at a computer. They are frequently used by people who spend extended periods in front of screens or for other mid-range tasks.
Near lenses are typically used in reading glasses to help those who struggle to focus on close-up objects, such as books or newspapers.
What is your returns policy?
Orders
We offer a 30-day, no-quibble money-back guarantee. If you’re not happy with your lenses for any reason, simply contact us via email or phone, and we’ll guide you through the next steps.
If there’s a manufacturing issue after 30 days, we will replace them.
However, most issues can be fixed whether it’s an adjustment, a prescription concern, or something else. Our experienced team will always advise you on the best course of action before a return. Check out our Terms and Conditions for full details.
What is your ULTIMA Upgrade Offer?
Lenses
At various times throughout the year, we run our ULTIMA Upgrade Offer. When you opt for any of our ULTIMA Anti-Glare lenses, you’ll automatically receive an upgrade to slimmer, lighter, and tougher lenses at no extra cost.
For example:
If you order Standard 1.5 ULTIMA lenses, you’ll be upgraded to Thin 1.6 ULTIMA lenses.

Why are progressives so expensive?
Progressive
Progressives should be viewed as an investment. When you require multiple pairs of glasses, it can be more convenient to opt for one lens that can combine multiple needs. The price of progressives is reflected in the skill required to produce a lens that can hold three different prescriptions and provide a clear and continuous view.
Of course, you can opt for entry-level options, but higher-end progressives are easier to adjust to, saving you time and headaches. They’ll also become your everyday glasses, saving you money on buying multiple pairs of specs.
Why are some progressives a lot cheaper than others, and how come some places offer “free” progressive while others charge a fortune?
Lenses, Progressive
The simple answer is you get what you pay for. Free progressives or lower-priced options are often of poor quality, offering a smaller field of vision, more distortion, and less comfort. These lenses may cause issues like “swim and sway,” making them harder to adapt to and less comfortable for long-term wear.
At Lensology, we offer even the most technologically advanced progressives for significantly less than what you’d pay at competitors. This means you can get the best quality lenses at a much more affordable price, ensuring clear vision, comfort, and a smoother experience overall.
Why are there three types of progressive lenses?
Progressive
At Lensology, we believe in making lenses easy, accessible, and affordable. That’s why we offer a range of lenses to meet differing budgets and preferences. We’ve designed three types of progressive lenses: Good, Better, and Best. Each provides a different level of distortion, field of vision, and comfort, with our Omni-Vision HD lenses offering the best of all three.
Why are there three types of Transitions® lenses?
Transitions
At Lensology, we know everyone has different preferences and will want the right lens to match their lifestyle and budget. We offer a range of Transitions® lenses: Gen S®, XTRActive®, and XTRActive® Polarised™ to suit everyone, from holiday sunglasses and driving glasses to go-to everyday lenses.
Why are Transitions® expensive?
Transitions
Transitions® are incredibly smart lenses designed to protect your eyes, improve your eye health and enhance your overall vision. They’re a fantastic investment that can be worn all day, every day, and in any environment. By investing in Transitions®, you’re receiving two pairs of glasses in one: everyday frames and sunglasses. And no matter what activity you’re doing (driving, walking, or looking at your phone), they will adapt to provide you with the best and most comfortable viewing experience possible. With three different price points from Lensology, you can pick the Transitions® lens that fits your budget and lifestyle.
Why are your prices so much lower than your regular eye doctor?
General
We keep our prices low by having our own glazing lab and working directly with optical lens manufacturers, cutting out the middleman. Additionally, we have lower overheads, which allows us to pass those savings directly on to you for your lenses.

Will coatings affect how my lenses look?
Lens Coatings
Coatings like Anti-Glare and Enhanced Anti-Glare make your lenses appear clearer and reduce visible reflections, especially in photos or bright environments. ULTIMA lenses also include an anti-smudge and easy-clean layer for a cleaner, crisper appearance over time.
