Single Vision Clear
Our single vision lenses come in three types –
Distance Correcting Lenses (also referred to as Everyday Lenses). Used by people who need help focusing on far away objects. If you use glasses for driving or watch TV, they probably have Distance Correcting Lenses.
Near Vision Lenses. Used in reading glasses by people who need help focusing on nearby objects.
Intermediate Lenses. Used by people who spend a lot of time at a computer screen or similar activities at roughly arm’s length.
All our lenses are cut, glazed and fitted in the UK at our Laboratory!
Single Vision Sunglasses
Here at Lensology we are Tinting experts and can boast of an unbeatable service. Most tinting requests are to match an existing colour in the frame, and we can do this easily and quickly. We can also prepare any colour and density of tint that you can imagine.
Our Tinting department has amazed many customers over the years with their skill and ability to provide both Solid and Graduated tints, not only in Sunglasses, but also in standard glasses when a tint is required for aesthetic or practical reasons.
All tints provided offer full ultraviolet protection.
Single Vision Polarised Sunglasses
Solid or Graduated Lenses
Polarised lenses can be Solid or Graduated and there is a choice of three colours – Grey, Brown or Green/Grey at a density level of 85%. Our technicians are happy to discuss which option is best for you if you are unsure.

Varifocal Lenses
Varifocals are designed to give you consistent and continuous clarity of focus across all distances with one single lens. They can be described as having three portions of the lens. The top of the lens is used for seeing things at a distance, the middle for intermediate viewing, and reading/close work at the bottom.
All varifocals have a certain amount of unavoidable peripheral distortion or soft focus towards the outside of the lens. This distortion can be mitigated and minimised by opting for a higher quality, more modern design of lens.

Digital “Good”
The entry level Digital lens offers a Good varifocal experience. This option would work well as a back-up or spare pair of varifocals, or if you are working on a tight budget. Its Freeform design makes it comparable in quality to the mid-range varifocals available on the High Street, but offers less distortion and a more competitive price.

All Varifocals have a certain amount of peripheral distortion or soft focus toward the outside of the lens. Anti-Fog Lenses

Bifocal Lenses
Bifocals have two points of vision within the lens. The top part of the lens helps with everyday and distance vision, and the segment in the lower half is used for reading. The most popular bifocal is known as a D28 which means that the reading segment is in the shape of a D and its 28mm wide. We can also supply other bifocal shapes and sizes to match what you already have in your frame. Our bifocals can be clear, tinted, transitions, or polarised lenses. In terms of thickness, there are options from the Standard 1.5 index, through to our Thinnest 1.74 index.

How we make your lenses
As well as stocking our own in-house brand of lenses – ULTIMA – which we can glaze and dispatch the same day, we also source lenses from leading manufacturers such as Essilor, Hoya, Nikon and Carl Zeiss. These suppliers are also used by the optical chains so you can be assured of equal quality to the high street. The only difference is the considerable savings you will make on the cost of your glasses every time you use Lensology.
All we need to make your glasses is your frame, prescription and Pupil Distance measurement. Your pupil measurement can be taken from your old frame if they have lenses in them. If it is a brand new frame then there are easy ways for us to work out your Pupil Distance which is explained in our FAQ’s. As with all aspects of our service, if there is anything your unsure about just contact us and we will be more than glad to help.
